I gave my opinion on this WONDERFUL YouTube video I came across, and apparently the poor individual who created the video didn't appreciate it much. Awww. And then, instead of posting my artfully colored reply, he chose not to post that and to distort it. Well, I guess he showed me.

This isn't a new topic, but I haven't weighed in on it yet and I'd like to explore it below.
I pose this question not because I believe it. I pose it because I don't know why anyone believes it. The Bush administration and the wonderful folks over at Fox News let us know that Pelosi's visit to Syria amounts to appeasement, to a country that has funded and aided terrorists.
The House has a whole Committee, Foreign Affairs, whose mission changes between sessions of Congress. However in this term of Congress, one facet of the Oversight Plan includes this:
g. Other Middle East Flashpoints--The Committee will review other Middle East flashpoints such as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the ongoing political turmoil in Lebanon, and prospects for reform throughout the region.
Now, I'd imagine that the people who buy into bullshit the Administration and their propaganda wing at Fox aren't the brightest bulbs out there. But if I'm reading this wrong, is it not part of the mission of Congress, through their leadership and the Foreign Affairs committee to conduct deplomacy as a separate but equal branch of government?
I thought so. Why is it that only we, Democrats and other forward-thinking individuals, seem to understand this?
I personally don't have any good answers for this, and that's what I want to know from you. I just don't get it; I don't get how simplistic a person's mind has to be to believe that it is not part of Congress's responsibilities to conduct diplomacy in their own way. That this smear of Speaker Pelosi can reverberate so easily in the empty conservative mind is a foreign concept to me, and it shouldn't be because I came from a conservative-minded background.
Any thoughts? Oh, and if you have time, feel free to hook up the genius with his well-crafted anti-Pelosi smear campaign.
